Prep ChefOther roles available, depending on experience Matchaful Culinary Lab, Clinton Hill, Brooklyn NYC Matchaful offers sustainable Japanese matcha and active botanical nutrition. We currently have (6) cafe locations in NYC, and we’re expanding this summer into Brooklyn! Our small team is passionate about leading the plant-based matcha + food movement in a sustainable, elevated and respectable way. The Matchaful Culinary Lab in Clinton Hill will be the largest space we've been in yet, and it will feature our first dedicated culinary production facility as well as our signature Matchaful Café. At Matchaful, we make all of our concentrates for our creative lattes- such as the beloved ginger zing, secret garden, and cacao dream - in our very own kitchen. Over the past few years, we’ve also expanded our plant-based & gluten-free offerings to include a yuzu donut, vegan soft serve, matcha sunflower butter oats, and matcha sesame noodles…to name a few. Matchaful’s Grain-Free Granola that is now sold in grocery stores was actually developed in our café kitchen. The Matchaful Culinary Lab will be a space for innovation, experimentation, and nourishment! We can’t wait to give our loyal community a window into what we’re doing behind the scenes. As Matchaful’s Prep Chef, you will be responsible for the preparation of our in-house food offerings, cleaning and organizing the space, and working directly under our Head Chef and Culinary Manager. Lots of growth opportunities exist as Matchaful as we expand our culinary offerings and cafe footprint this year! About the Prep Chef role: 3-4 days/week minimum commitment Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Preparepastries and other parfaits/prepto meet orders for all cafés daily Help to keep Culinary Lab clean by assisting with sweeping/mopping and general cleaning Build prep kits for kitchen and set up production for success Communicate on Slack with managers about day to day tasks Follow best kitchen practices and follow all kitchen protocols Accurately label and store food items Maintain ingredient stocks Wash dishes andput everything away before shift ends Must be able to commit to working early hours Must be willing to obtain a Food Protection Certificate if not already certified Record all production events in production log and kitchen waste log Assist with End of Month inventory accounts as needed About You: Great team player Passionate about plant-based food and matcha Awesome communicator Hardworking and efficient You take direction well and are open to constructive feedback You work well under pressure Physical stamina to stand for long periods Ability to reach, stoop, bend and lift up heavy items or equipment up to 50 lbs Attention to detail You love organization and helping to improve kitchen spaces 2-3 years of professional kitchen experience, commissary kitchen experience a plus Culinary school education is a plus (but not necessary) Food Protection Certificate a plus You love learning and you want to grow with Matchaful!
